London Calling, from June 17th at Idea Generation Gallery 11,Chance Street,London E2 7JB .This exhibition i have helped to curate will be showing approx 30 New works donated by artists and celebrities to Auction for the launch of a new Foundation for Art Students in Manchester, the home town of the artist Ray Lowry who designed the cover for the seminal album London Calling for punk rock group The Clash.Ray was a well known cartoonist on magazines such as NME and The Face back in the 1980’s and also toured with The Clash to America where he record them in his paintings during Live Gig’s. some of Ray’s work will be in show along with the invited contributor’s who are making their work based on the Original Album by The Clash. I have painted a favourite pair of brothel creepers which are from the time of London Calling ie 1979 !which will be in the show.

Also in June watch this space for details of my Art’n'Soles residency at the Whitstable Biennale and involvement in other projects at my Studio and at The Printblock on the Eastquay.

Caped Crusaders is a Silkscreen Print made during my residency at University for the Creative Arts(UCA) At Canterbury. This was as part of the AA2A Scheme allowing practising artists to use the facilities in art schools for a limited time.

The work was inspired by paintings i was making based on flying figures, these were symbolising historical and heroic figures like Cupid and Icarus as well as more personal references. The super heroes is an extension or development of this them.

Some of the work I produced during this residency can be found here.
